Samira Madushan Senanayake
Samira founded Simplybooks on a simple conviction: the kind of financial rigour that large regional companies rely on shouldn't be out of reach for startups and small businesses. After more than fifteen years building and leading finance functions across the UAE and the wider MENA region, he set out to make enterprise-grade bookkeeping, tax compliance, and CFO-level insight genuinely accessible to UAE SMEs.
Most recently, Samira spent over eight years as Regional Head of Finance (Financial Controller, MENA) for Swagelok UAE, a global engineering components manufacturer — owning the P&L across multiple subsidiaries, leading an SAP Business One migration and E-Invoicing integration, and rebuilding working capital to cut collection cycles from 119 to 55 days in the UAE and financing costs by more than a third. Earlier, he trained as an auditor with UHY International in Dubai and BDO in Sri Lanka & the Maldives, auditing oil & gas, manufacturing, and trading businesses to IFRS standards.

Samira is a Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA, UK), holds an MBA from the University of Southern Queensland, and a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University (UK).
